Online registration will allow you to register, to submit an abstract and to book an accommodation in a single procedure, if you have prepared everything beforehand.

REGISTRATION CATEGORIES & FEES

REGISTRATION CATEGORIES

Member: A member of one of the societies affiliated to FENS or a member of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN).

Non-Member: A participant from academic and non-profit organizations.

Student: A pre-doctoral student only. Postdoctoral fellows, hospital residents, interns and laboratory technicians do not qualify for the student rate.
Students registering online must send by post or fax proof of their status. Students registering on site will also have to provide such proof. Students will be provided with a special badge.

Accompanying person (guest): A guest must be a non-scientist family member or guest of a scientist. Individuals under the age of 18 will not be permitted to attend the meeting without adult supervision. Badges will not be issued for individuals under the age of 18.
The guest registration fee includes a badge and admittance to the social events (Welcome reception and admission to FENS JAZZ nite, as well as a free ticket for public transport during the meeting dates). Guests are not admitted to the scientific events.

Corporate: A representative of a commercial company who is not eligible for receiving free exhibitor registration.

INITIAL SUBMISSION

If you are already registered, please refer to the  Registration editing section.
If you are a speaker or an invited participant, please refer to the Speakers & invited participants section.
If you want to register someone as a guest, please refer to the Accompanying persons section.

ACCESS

Connect to the FENS Forum website, click on the link Registration, then click on the Initial submission link.
Fill in the fields with the appropriate information then click on Continue. The registration form will appear on your screen.

REGISTRATION

You are required to go through the 4 steps of the registration form. The form will be saved by clicking on Continue at the last step.

Step 1

Contact information
The personal information must be typed in the appropriate fields on the registration form. Please check that your Email address is correct as all information concerning the Forum will be sent to you at this electronic address.

Step 2

Type of presentation
Click on the appropriate radio button (poster presentation as 1st author, etc...).

Scientific sessions
For our information, and to help us allot the different rooms to the sessions, select the sessions you are most likely to attend (see programme).

Step 3

Buffet dinner
A buffet dinner will be available on Sunday, July 13 in the evening from 18:30 to 19:30. Cold, warm or vegetarian food will be served. Registration is required. Entry fee: 10 EUR for students and 15 EUR for others.
Indicate if you want to attend the dinner.

Alumni reunion
Tuesday, July 15, 19:30 - 23:30
A get-together for students and faculty of previous FENS and IBRO Schools and IBRO VLTP courses. As an Alumni, please register online and collect your ticket for free admission at the general registration desk of the FENS Forum located in the convention centre.

Special request
If you have any, type in your request in the appropriate field (80 characters maximum).

Step 4

Registration category
Click on the appropriate radio button corresponding to your status as academic, student or corporate. The registration fee will automatically be filled according to your status (see registration categories & fees).
Students are required to send a proof of their status (e.g. a signed statement from their Department Head or supervisor).

Membership
If you are a member of one of the European neuroscience Societies constituting FENS, or another affiliated society and if you have not mentioned it at the beginning of the registration procedure, use the pull-down menu to select your society. Following an agreement between FENS and the American Society for Neuroscience, members of the latter society will also benefit from registration fees as FENS members.
Note that your membership will be checked with these societies.

Technical workshops
There is an extra fee of 50 EUR for technical workshops. This fee is automatically calculated if you have selected a technical workshop on page 2 of the registration form. You will not be allowed to unselect the corresponding checkbox. If you do not wish to attend a workshop, you will have to edit your registration form and change the selection on step 2.
Please note that the number of participants is limited.

Abstract books
Abstract books will be distributed on request only at an extra fee of 35 EUR.

Means of payment
The recommended means of payment is by credit card (Visa or Eurocard/Mastercard). FENS has subcontracted payment by credit card to a secure payment service that guarantees confidentiality and security.
You can also pay by bank transfer. Please note that the payment must be sent free of charge for the beneficiary and that there are additional handling fees (10 EUR) for this means of payment.
Please enter the bank transfer reference in the appropriate field.
Institutional orders (from universities, institutes, etc.) and cheques are not accepted. Refer to the payment section for details.

Once you have checked that all the information provided is correct, especially your Email address, click on Continue.

CONFIRMATION

WAIT for the confirmation. DO NOT FORGET TO PRINT IT.
Your registration number and confidential code are mentioned on this confirmation; you will need these codes for all correspondence with the Registration secretariat, or to modify your registration and/or abstract.

If you chose to pay by credit card, proceed with the payment (see payment for detailed instructions).

If you wish to modify your registration, click on Edit at the bottom of the confirmation page.

You can then proceed with the abstract submission by clicking on the button Abstract submission.

You should receive a confirmation of your registration by Email within 24h-48h. If you do not receive this Email, please check your Email address.

After registering, you can check and modify your registration form at any time: see Registration editing.

SPEAKERS & INVITED PARTICIPANTS

Although you are pre-registered, you must edit your registration form to update it and validate it.

ACCESS

Connect to the FENS Forum website, click on the link Registration, then click on the View & Edit link. Type in your registration number and confidential code, then click on Edit.

You are required to go through the 4 steps of the registration form (for details, see step 1 to 4 of Initial submission). The form will be saved by clicking on Save at the last step.

CONFIRMATION

WAIT for the confirmation. DO NOT FORGET TO PRINT IT.

If you wish to modify your registration, click on Edit at the bottom of the confirmation page.

You should receive a confirmation of your registration by Email within 24h-48h. If you do not receive this Email, please check your Email address.

REGISTRATION EDITING

Connect to the FENS Forum website, click on the link Registration, then click on the View & Edit link. Type in the registration number and confidential code as they were provided on your registration confirmation, then click on Edit or View.

To modify your registration, you are required to go through the 4 steps of the registration form.
For each step, you can modify any item (or no item), then click on Continue to proceed to the next step.
Changes will be saved by clicking on Save at the last step.

You do not need to send a copy of the modified registration form to the Registration secretariat, unless you have a problem.

PAYMENT

Institutional orders (from universities, institutes, etc.) and cheques are not accepted. Payments shall be made in Euro (no other currencies shall be accepted).

CREDIT CARD

This is the recommended means of payment.
Click on the "Credit Card Payment" button at the bottom of the registration confirmation page. You will be connected to a secure site (SSL) for electronic payment.
Please note that only Visa or Eurocard/Mastercard are accepted.
Follow the instructions to complete the form, then submit it. WAIT for the bank receipt, even if the transaction fails or if you cancel it yourself. DO NOT FORGET TO PRINT IT.

You must RETURN to the Forum website by clicking on the button "Return to FENS Forum", in order to validate your transaction. Be patient and do not quit your web browser before the end of the procedure.

Important: if you book an accommodation and pay by credit card, you must make two separate payments: one for registration, the other one for the deposit of the hotel reservation. Just follow the instructions during the process of registration and hotel reservation.

Please indicate the complete first name and last name of the registered participant(s), matching with the name(s) on the registration form, and "free of charge for the receiver account".
Please note that your registration will be valid only on receipt of your payment and that any unpaid bank charges will be collected on site.
Bank transfer payments will only be accepted until May 1, 2008. An extra-cost of 10 EUR will be charged as handling fee.

Please send a copy of your registration confirmation with the bank order to the Registration secretariat.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

You must send to MCI Suisse SA (by E-mail fens2008@mci-group.com or fax: +41 22 33 99 631),

STUDENTS

- A proof of your student status (e.g. a signed statement from your Department Head or supervisor),
- A copy of your registration confirmation,
- In addition, if you pay by bank transfer, a copy of the bank transfer receipt.
Do not send a copy of your abstract confirmation.
Note: the student status proof has nothing to do with the requests for travel grants. For travel grants, refer to the stipends page.

OTHER PARTICIPANTS

- If you pay by credit card, you have completed your registration: DO NOT send anything to the secretariat.
- If you pay by bank transfer, send a copy of your registration confirmation together with a copy of the bank transfer receipt.
Do not send a copy of your abstract confirmation.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Registration

Cancellations are accepted in written form only by Email or fax, to be received at the Registration secretariat. The registration fee will be refunded minus 30% for cancellation handling fees if we receive your request before March 31, 2008; no refunds thereafter.
All refunds will be processed AFTER the Forum.
Please note that if you are 1st author of an abstract and cancel your registration, your abstract will not be published.

Abstract withdrawal only

In writing only, by Email or fax to the FENS Forum Server Office. State your last name, first name, registration number and confidential code. Withdrawal of an abstract without cancelling registration does not entail refund of the registration fee.
Only first authors are allowed to withdraw their abstract.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

Certificates of attendance will be issued at the registration desk.
