Q. As an international attendee, who do I contact for an invitation letter to attend the Forum?
A. Please submit your request for an invitation letter in writing to the Forum secretariat by E-mail or fax, see contacts.
Q. Do I have to be a member of FENS to attend?
A. No, but the registration fees are reduced for FENS and SfN members. See guidelines.
Q. Where will the poster sessions be held?
A. The poster sessions will be held in exhibit hall at Palexpo.
Q. If I bring my children are they permitted to attend educational and social events with me as well as visit the exhibits?
A. Children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian during exhibit hours.
Parents or guardians may bring children under the age of 18 to educational and social events provided the children do not disrupt the event. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 allowed in the exhibit hall during set up and dismantle times.
Q. Whom should I contact to rent a meeting room or conduct a satellite/ancillary event during FENS Forum 2008?

Q. Do I have to register for the Forum 2008 in order to attend a satellite event?
A. No. Satellite and ancillary events are not sponsored by FENS.
Q. Is there a possibility to advertise a non commercial scientific meeting on a display table at the Forum?
A. Yes, upon request. Please use the contact page to submit your request.
Q. Will transportation be provided between hotels and Palexpo? Is there a fee?
A. The Congress badge grants free public transportation within the Geneva Metropolitan Area (tram and public buses). This is valid for the meeting dates from Saturday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
Q. Is there parking available at Palexpo?
A. A public parking is available at Palexpo on hourly or daily basis.
Q. What is the expected Forum attendance?
A. About 5,000 participants.
Q. Does Palexpo offer assistance for visitors with disabilities and special needs and whom do I contact?
A. If you have a disability that will have an impact on your participation in the Forum, please contact MCI Suisse SA, see contacts.
Q. Will there be a coat and luggage check available in the convention center?
A. There will be a coat and luggage check available in the convention centre.
Q. Will transportation be provided?
A. You will be able to pick up a free ticket for public transport from the machine in the baggage collection area at the Arrival Level. This ticket, offered by the Geneva International Airport, allows you to use public transport in Geneva free for a period of 80 minutes.
If you are staying at a hotel, a youth hostel or a campsite, the establishment will offer you the "Geneva Transport Card" that allows you to use public transport in Geneva, free of charge during your stay. Ask the establishment upon check-in.
Q. Is there a business centre available for making copies, sending faxes, etc?
A. This service will be available at the convention centre; ask for more information on site at the registration desk.

Q. What type of companies exhibit?
A. The general exhibit categories are Biochemicals and Reagents, Computer Related Instruments, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies, Optical/Imaging Instruments, Physiological Instruments, Publishers, Pharmaceutical Companies and Non-Profit Organisations.

Q. Is there an "Exhibit Hall Only" registration fee?
A. No. In order to visit the exhibit hall, you must register for the entire meeting.
Q. Are children allowed in the exhibit hall?
A. Children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian during exhibit hours. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 allowed in the exhibit hall during set up and dismantle times.

Q. When can we begin to reserve hotel rooms?
A. The hotel reservation is already active. Please see hotels & excursions.
Q. How do I make changes in my hotel reservation?
A. Please contact MCI Suisse SA, using the contacts page.
Q. Will I receive a confirmation from the hotel?
A. As soon as MCI Suisse SA has received your payment, a letter of confirmation will be sent by E-mail. It will confirm the name of your hotel, the room rate per night and the duration of your stay.
Q. Will there be a complimentary shuttle service to the convention center?
A. No, but the Congress badge grants free public transportation within the Geneva Metropolitan Area (tram and public buses). This is valid for the meeting dates from Saturday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 16, 2008.
Q. What is the hotel cancellation policy?
A. All changes of hotel reservations will be performed by MCI. Please do not contact the hotel directly. All changes must be requested in writing (fax, letter or E-mail). A handling fee of CHF 50.- per hotel room will be charged for every hotel modification received after May 31st, 2008.
Cancellations must also be sent to MCI Suisse SA in writing (fax, letter or E-mail). For cancellations received before May 31st, 2008, deposits will be refunded less CHF 100.- for administrative costs. In case of late cancellation (after May 31st, 2008) of reserved rooms or no-shows, we reserve the right to charge the full stay if the hotel room cannot be re-sold.

Registration will also be possible on-site during the Forum (late registration fees apply).
Please note that the reduced registration fee is only applicable, if it has been credited to the congress account before the deadline January 31st, 2008. Registration before this date, but without payment, is not sufficient for reduction.
Q. What does my registration fee include?
A. Your registration fee includes access to all FENS sponsored sessions, lectures, exhibits, symposia, posters, the programme book, the abstract CD and a free public transport during the meeting dates.
Q. I am a student. Where do I have to send my "student proof"?

Q. Can I pay by credit card?
A. Yes, you may pay for registration fees by credit card. The credit cards accepted by the Forum organisers are MasterCard and Visa.

Q. Will I receive my badge prior to traveling to the Forum 2008?
A. No. You will receive your badge upon registration on site.
Q. I have lost my badge; what shall I do?
A. You will be able to receive a replacement badge on-site at the registration desk during registration hours. Lost badges are replaced for registered participants presenting an ID, at a replacement fee of 15 €.
Q. I have a question about my registration. Who should I contact?

Q. What is the cancellation/refund policy?
A. Registration:
Cancellations are accepted in written form only by E-mail or fax, to be received at the Registration secretariat. The registration fee will be refunded minus 30% for cancellation handling fees if we receive your request before March 31, 2008; no refunds thereafter. All refunds will be processed AFTER the Forum.

Please note that if you are 1st author of an abstract and cancel your registration, your abstract will not be published.
Abstract withdrawal only:
In writing only, by Email or fax to the FENS Forum Server Office. State your last name, first name, registration number and confidential
code. Withdrawal of an abstract without cancelling registration does not entail refund of the registration fee.
Only first authors are allowed to withdraw their abstract.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Q. How to submit my abstract?
A. All abstracts should be submitted electronically on: forum.fens.org/2008 by January 31, 2008.
Q. What is the deadline for abstract submission?
A. The receipt deadline for abstract submission is Thursday, January 31, 2008, 24:00 local time.
Q. What is the language used for abstracts?
A. English, as English is the official language of the Forum.
Q. I am having problems with my abstract submission. Who do I contact?
A. If you have any problem, please contact the FENS Forum Server Office.
Q. How will I know if my abstract has been accepted for poster presentation?
A. There is no procedure for abstract acceptance; once submitted, your abstract is considered as accepted. However,
1) abstracts are checked by an editorial committee to make sure that they comply with ethical guidelines and that they are clearly written. You will be informed by mid-March if there is any problem.
2) abstracts will be definitively accepted on receipt of the payment of your registration fee. At the time of publishing the abstract and programme books, abstracts for which we received no registration payment will be removed.
Q. Where will abstracts be published?
A. Abstracts will be published on the FENS Forum website and in the series FENS Forum Abstracts, volume 4, 2008.
The proper citation for the 6th FENS Forum abstracts is:

where Axxx.nn stands for the abstract number.

POSTER SESSIONS
Q. How will the poster sessions in Geneva be organised?
A. There will be 7 poster sessions each scheduled for a half day.
Morning session posters should be put up between 08:00 and 08:30 and removed between 13:00 and 13:30.
Afternoon session posters should be put up between 13:30 and 14:00 and removed at 18:30.
Q. What will be the poster board size?
A. The poster board size is 190 cm wide and 100 cm high (landscape format).
Q. Where will the poster sessions be held?
A. The poster sessions will be held in the main exhibit hall (Hall 1) of the Palexpo Conference Center.
Q. When will I receive information on the date of my poster presentation?
A. You will receive an E-mail with all details concerning your poster presentation around May 15.
Q. How can I fix my poster to the board?
A. Double-sided adhesive tape will be used and will be available at the Congress Center.
